Hi guys, after last summer’s reviews of some golf courses in southern France, this year we headed north to Sweden. The first course we played was the Royal Drottningholms Golfclubb a 20 Minuten drive west out of Stockholms city center and just beside the beautiful Drottningholms Castle. The first word that comes to my mind when describing the course is „generous“. That does not go so much for the prices which generally are not very low (for instance for the range balls). But the whole setting (landscape, driving range with free trackman facilities, pitching area and putting green) is beautiful and relaxing. The course itself is generous, too. Large fairways in good condotion where longhitters can have fun even from the back tees. Not too much water (however tough at 18 par 3 with the wind against you). Bunkers (although demanding at 17) can often be avoided due to the friendly layout. Staff and half way house friendly and ready for service. After 9 there is even a chance for a freshly made hot dog. As we did not stop by at the restaurant I can‘t say something about it. Many thanks to club members Bjoern and son for helping us finding smart directions here and there! Coming back rate 8/10.
Sommarerbjudandet i juli 2023 med greenfee på 890 kr är troligen den mest prisvärda greenfeen i riket sett till vad man får för pengarna. Otroligt skick och fram för allt greenerna var i topptrim, supersnabba. Absolut jämförbart skick med Ullna och Bro Hof, men till halva greenfeen. Man bör nog kunna sin golf om man ska ut här dock, min far med 25 i hcp hade svårt att skrapa ihop poäng då banan får anses som svår/utmanande och ligger du på fel ställe vid greenområdena kan slagen lätt dra iväg. Lägg på fint bemötande i receptionen och grymma träningsfaciliteter så förstår ni att det inte fanns något att klaga på!
Horrible aucustics, but the food and personnel were really nice!
In close proximity to the Swedish royal family's summer palace, in the quiet environs of the island of Drottningholm, this very pleasant parkland course has often played host to the top tour professionals of the European Tour. Here on the island of Drottningholm you have the chance to card a good score on this not excessively long, but tranquilly "royal" and (moderately) "ancient" golf course.
Very nice golf course and in a top condition. Should be ranked higher among Swedish golf courses.
